Materials

  • 1 cinnamon stick (4-5 inches long)
  • Cotton macrame cord (about 3-4 yards)
  • Scissors
  • Small comb or brush (optional for fraying ends)
  • Twine or string for hanging (10-12 inches)

Instructions

  • Cut six to eight pieces of macrame cord, each around 18-20 inches long. Fold each cord in half and attach it to the cinnamon stick using a lark’s head knot (looping through the fold). You then adjust them evenly along the stick.
  • Begin tying square knots with the middle cords, creating a V-shape or diamond pattern as you go down. You can make it as long or as short as you’d like.
  • Once the main knots are complete, trim the lower cords to your preferred length, either straight across or in a soft inverted triangle for a finished look.
  • Optionally, use a comb or your fingers to fray the bottom ends slightly, it gives the wall hanging a relaxed, boho texture.
  • Cut a small piece of twine and tie it to both ends of the cinnamon stick to create a loop for hanging. Make sure it’s balanced and centered.
  • Finally, hang your finished piece on a wall, door handle, or even the Christmas tree to enjoy its natural scent and handmade charm.
