Now imagine threading them together to form a bookmark that keeps your page safe while holding a touch of nostalgia.
This project feels like stitching memories into your books, one button at a time.
The best part is how flexible the design is, you can keep it minimalist with neutral shades or go bold with mismatched brights.
Step 1: Select a variety of buttons, mixing sizes and colors for contrast.
Step 2: Thread your needle with about 18” of cord or floss and knot one end securely.
Step 3: Begin stringing the buttons by passing the needle through their holes. Alternate large and small buttons to keep the strand balanced.
Step 4: Continue until the strand is around 7-8” long, just right for most books.
Step 5: Knot the thread tightly at the end. Optionally, sew a felt circle to both ends for a neat finish.
Step 6: Place it inside your book, letting the colorful button trail peek out charmingly.
Notes:
You can theme your button bookmark, for example earth tones for a rustic feel, metallics for elegance, or rainbow colors for a playful look.
