That’s the magic of a mummy door. It’s a simple transformation but one that instantly makes your home feel like part of a Halloween story.

You don’t need elaborate decorations, just some wrapping, a little imagination, and suddenly your entrance feels like it belongs to a haunted tomb.

Materials Needed

• 1-2 rolls of white crepe paper streamers or gauze wrap (total length 200-250 ft.)
• Large black and white construction paper sheets (for the eyes, about 8”-10” circles)
• Scissors
• Clear tape or painter’s tape (safe for doors)
• Optional: Black paper bats or spiders for extra decoration

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1: Clean the surface of your door so tape sticks easily without peeling off. Measure if needed, but freehand works fine too.

Step 2: Cut strips of crepe paper or gauze and begin taping them diagonally across the door, crisscrossing to mimic mummy wrappings.

Step 3: Leave a gap near the top of the door for the eyes to peek out. Then tape on two large circles white for the base and black for the pupils.

Step 4: Continue layering more wrappings, making sure the eyes are still visible. Don’t worry if the strips overlap unevenly as it adds character!

Step 5: Add finishing touches with black paper bats or spiders, taping them on top of the mummy wrap for extra creepiness.
