These little characters are so easy to create that each one can have its own personality, wrap some neatly, wrap others in a messier style, and let their googly eyes peek out in funny ways.
They’re the kind of project that makes kids giggle while also giving you a creative way to reuse those cardboard rolls.
Step 1: Gather your empty toilet paper rolls and make sure they’re clean and free of leftover paper.
Step 2: Take a length of string or yarn and begin wrapping it around the roll. Then cross the layers over each other to mimic mummy bandages.
Step 3: Keep wrapping until most of the roll is covered, leaving a few small gaps where the cardboard peeks through for texture.
Step 4: Secure the end of the string with a dot of glue on the back side.
Step 5: Glue two googly eyes on the front, nestled between the bandages so they peek out.
Step 6: Repeat with your other rolls until you’ve created a whole crew of mini mummies.
Tips:
If you want to use them as treat holders, fill the rolls with wrapped candy before wrapping them up. They’ll be like little mummy surprise tubes!
