One by one, the nails form an outline, and as the string crisscrosses, your star, tree, or snowman begins to take shape.
It feels almost like weaving a story into wood, each loop and knot tying a bit of your holiday spirit into something that will last for years.
Step 1: Choose your design (tree, star, or snowman) and lightly sketch the outline onto each wood slice with a pencil.
Step 2: Carefully hammer small nails along the outline, spacing them about 0.3" apart. Donβt hammer too dee, just enough to keep them sturdy.
Step 3: Tie the end of your yarn to one nail, then begin looping the string around the nails in different directions to fill in the shape. Keep the tension snug, but not too tight.
Step 4: Add details: use white yarn for a snowman, green with pom-poms for a Christmas tree, or bright red for a star.
Step 5: Once finished, tie off the yarn and secure with a dab of hot glue.
Step 6: Glue or tie a loop of twine to the back of the ornament for easy hanging.
Tip:
Mix different yarn textures (like sparkly metallic thread or chunky wool) for a more eye-catching design.
