It’s true! I’ve done it, and not only is it easy, but it’s also a joyful way to bring holiday cheer into your home. 

If you want to make your own, let me show you exactly how I made mine, step by step, so you can create your own festive masterpiece in no time.

Materials You’ll Need

Here’s what I used for my wreath:

• A grapevine wreath base (mine was about $8 from a craft store).
• Fresh or faux greenery: I clipped a few sprigs of pine and cedar from my backyard, but you can also find these at stores for around $10.
• Dried orange slices, pinecones, and cinnamon sticks (about $10).
• Floral wire 
• A hot glue gun
• Some twine or a festive ribbon

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Start with the Base

First, grab your grapevine wreath. I love this type of base because it’s sturdy, affordable, and has a rustic charm. Then, you just spread out the vines a bit to make room for your decorations.

2. Add Your Greenery

Next, grab your greenery. I used pine sprigs because they smell amazing and give that classic Christmas vibe.

You lay them over your wreath base and secure them with floral wire, then wrap the wire tightly around the vines to hold everything in place. It’s okay if some branches stick out as it gives the wreath a wild, organic feel.

3. Decorate with Pinecones and Oranges

Now you can arrange a few pinecones and dried orange slices around the greenery. I like to group them in little clusters for a balanced but casual look.

Use your hot glue gun to stick these pieces firmly onto the wreath. Be careful, though, glue guns can get pretty hot.

4. Add Cinnamon Sticks for a Cozy Touch

Cinnamon sticks not only look beautiful, but they also smell divine. I tied mine into small bundles with twine and glued them into empty spaces.

You could even tuck in a few extra sprigs of greenery or berries if you have them on hand.

5. Tie It All Together

To finish, I tied a simple loop of twine at the top so I could hang my wreath easily. If you want a pop of color, a red or plaid ribbon would look amazing here.

Tips I Learned Along the Way

If you’re on a tight budget, try foraging for pinecones and greenery. I found most of mine in my backyard. Besides, drying your own orange slices is easy, just slice them thin, bake at a low temperature, and let them cool.
