You layer cocoa, sugar, chocolate, and marshmallows, tie a little ribbon, and suddenly you’ve got a gift that looks like a snow globe of sweetness.
Every spoonful feels like winter magic. I’ve made these for neighbors, teachers, even the mail carrier and they’re always a hit.
It’s the kind of gift that says, “Take a moment for yourself.”
Step 1: Start with a clean, dry mason jar. This keeps the ingredients fresh and layers neat.
Step 2: Spoon in the cocoa powder first, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
Step 3: Add the sugar as the second layer. I like to tap the jar gently so it settles in smoothly.
Step 4: Sprinkle in the crushed chocolate chips or chunks. This adds extra richness once it melts.
Step 5: Top it all off with a fluffy pile of mini marshmallows, don’t be shy, pack them in.
Step 6: Seal the jar tightly, tie a festive ribbon or twine around the neck, and tuck in a little evergreen sprig if you want that rustic holiday touch.
Step 7: Write a simple note with instructions: “Mix contents with 3–4 cups of hot milk. Stir, sip, and enjoy.”
Note:
I usually prep these jars assembly-line style, it saves time, and you can make 5-6 gifts in one go. Great for last-minute surprises!
